Trip to San Diego

For Thanksgiving vacation we took a trip down to San Diego to visit Dustin's side of the family. It was quite the adventure!

We left Utah on the 24th (Thanksgiving day) and flew back on the 29th.  We definitely decided to fly instead of drive. Zander does not like riding the car one bit. The 10 hour drive to San Diego would have been unbearable in my opinion. Flying was much nicer because he was able to sit in our laps during the flight. He did surprisingly well on the flight. We were a bit nervous about his first time flying but he seemed to like it ok. The airport was pretty empty so getting through security went rather quickly. He didn't even seem bothered by the pressure changes during take-off and landing. I tried nursing and giving him the pacifier during these times to help but I'm not sure if he even cared.  Luckily, he took a nap for part of the flight. Dustin and I enjoyed our complimentary beverages and peanuts! Here are some pictures we took while at the airport and on our flight to San Diego.

We had a very fun time while in San Diego! Zander got to meet his Uncle Scot for the first time. I'm not sure if Zander made the best impression though since he was grumpy most of the trip because his sleep schedule was not the best. Zander is a pretty good birth control baby.

Zander also got to meet his betrothed, Elodie. Elodie is the daughter of our good friends Dane and Kari.  This picture will definitely be on their slideshow at their reception! ;)
 

Dustin and I were able to visit the temple we were married in and that was a wonderful experience. The San Diego temple is so beautiful and has such a wonderful spirit. Here is a picture from our wedding day at the temple.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was giving Dustin and Zander hair cuts! It was Zander's very first hair cut. This is my two favorite guys sitting out on the porch waiting for their haircuts.

Zander is our little musical prodigee! He is currently mastering dissonance on the piano.

One of our goals while we were in San Diego was to take Zander to see the ocean for the first time! Days passed and we never seemed to get around to making it down to the beach. We were leaving for the airport but decided to make a very quick detour to the beach! We parked at our friend Kari's house and she brought her daughter Ella to the beach with us. Here are some pics of Zander's first time at the beach!!!!!

Other highlights of our trip:

• We had a family photo-shoot compliments of a nice lady from church (pics to come soon hopefully!!)
• We attended Elodie's birthday party which was done so well
• I went black Friday shopping with my mother-in-law and got a few good steals (memory foam mattress topper, food processor, etc)
• Oh yeah...we had Thanksgiving dinner. Since we flew in pretty close to dinner time Scot cooked this year. He made paella and challah bread along with a yummy cake! Our Thanksgiving vacation was overall a wonderful trip.
